Cann Global Limited (previously Queensland Bauxite Ltd) has been focused on defining significant bauxite resources with a view to developing a bauxite mining and export operation that may include direct shipping ore (DSO).
The Company has been focused on targeting long-life operations and positioning itself to participate in the growth of the bauxite sector. Following the completion of a comprehensive study, mapping and review process, the Company acquired projects that offer significant prospects for the attainment of gibbsitic bauxite with a low reactive silica content close to key road, rail and port infrastructure.
The Company’s Bauxite Projects include interests in:
- the South Johnstone Project located in Queensland; and
- the New England Bauxite Project located in the New South Wales, (the Bauxite Projects).
South Johnstone Bauxite Project
Close to Port, Infrastructure and the End User
- South Johnstone Bauxite Project located near Innisfail, North Queensland
- Covers 260 km2 of prospective bauxite terrain
- Bauxite discoveries estimated at 35 million tonnes
- Deposits situated less than 20km from Mourilyan port
- Sealed road network runs through project area
- Access for exploration granted
- Application for mineral development submitted
- Negotiations commenced with potential end users
Targeting Premium DSO Bauxite
- Bauxite is a red-brown laterized saprolite developed on basalt
- Gibbsitic bauxite with a low reactive silica content up to 4m thick
- Deposits lying at surface with minimal overburden
- Application for mineral development submitted
- Preparations underway for trial mining at Camp Creek discovery
- Landholder consultation has been undertaken and favourable response received
Significant Exploration Upside
- The historic exploration drilling reported by Carpentaria gave QBL a high level of confidence of achieving significant exploration success
- QBL exploration drilling continues to define JORC compliant resources
New England Bauxite Project
Close to Regional Centre and Transport
- New England Bauxite Project located near Inverell, New South Wales
- Exploration Licence overs 250 km2 of prospective bauxite terrain
- Deposits situated less than 15km from proposed Pacific East Rail Line (Australian Infrastructural Developments)
- Sealed road network runs through project area with rail link to coastal port (proposed completion date 2023)
- Access for exploration granted
- Negotiations commenced with potential end users
Targeting Premium DSO Bauxite
- Bauxite is a red-brown laterized saprolite developed on basalt
- Gibbsitic bauxite with a low reactive silica content up to 12m thick (average thickness 4.8m)
- Deposits lying at surface with minimal overburden
- Landholder consultation has been undertaken and favourable response received
Significant Exploration Upside
- In 1944, NSW Government geologists F.W. Booker and F.N. Hanlon reported on numerous bauxite deposits in the Inverell area, then in 1954 H.B Owen published another favourable report
- Historic discoveries by the NSW government gave QBL a high level of confidence of achieving significant exploration success in the New England region
- QBL exploration drilling builds on discovery tonnages and defines JORC compliant resources
